When Isabella Tree and Charlie Burrell inherited the Knepp Castle estate in the 1980s, they attempted to modernise the farm, but it proved unsustainable. In a leap of faith, they decided to let nature take back the land, surrendering contemporary preconceptions about landscape, agriculture and husbandry. The scheme was the first of its kind in Britain and one of the most significant rewilding experiments in all of Europe. Based on Tree’s bestselling book of the same name, this is a charming, hopeful documentary about ecological regeneration.
+ recorded Q&A (26 mins) with Isabella Tree, hosted by Craig Bennett of the Wildlife Trust on Sat 22 June.
