Single father, Luke has grown accustomed to settling for fleeting relationships on the rare occasions he’s alone. Then, in an underground club, he meets Aysha. They’re immediately attracted to each other, but Luke is taken aback when he finds out Aysha is a femme drag queen, not the cis woman he thought. As they spend time working together and as Aysha introduces Luke to more of her world and they each navigate different challenges in their personal lives, they question whether or not their relationship can exist outside traditional labels. A touching romance, and a daring portrait of modern masculinity that looks at the transformative power of being seen for who you really are.
Sally El Hosaini is a Welsh-Egyption BAFTA nominated film director and screenwriter, known for the 2022 biographical drama The Swimmers.
