In the small Irish town of New Ross in 1985, devoted father and coal merchant Bill Furlong discovers startling secrets kept by the convent in his town, along with some shocking home truths. Adapted from the Booker Prize-nominated novel by Claire Keegan, this is the story of Ireland’s Magdalene laundries which were horrific asylums run by Roman Catholic institutions until 1996 to reform young women. An intimate character study, led by a fantastic performance from Cillian Murphy.
