The inhabitants of a small village in Hungary deal with the aftershocks of the fall of Communism in the seven-hour episodic masterpiece from Béla Tarr. Recent changes in a defunct agricultural collective, mean they have no revenue, so they set out to leave their village. As a few members conspire to take off with all of the earnings, a mysterious character, long-thought dead, returns and alters the course of everyone’s lives forever.
