Summer 1984, Margaret Thatcher is in power and the National Union of Mineworkers is on strike. In London, lesbian and gay activists decide to raise money to support the families of the miners, but they encounter a problem when the NUM seem embarrassed to receive their support. Undeterred, they decide to go directly to the miners, identifying a mining village in the Dulais valley. This is an impassionate and extraordinary true story of two seemingly alien communities who form a surprising and ultimately triumphant friendship.
As part of our Pride month, we're screening Pride. The triumphant tale of how Queer activists from London and miners in Wales became allies.
