Join us for composer and producer Mathlus’ hedonistic, cross-genre performance of his debut album that brings together alternative R&B, electronic dance and rave culture.
Malthus is an artist from Lancashire, working with music, film and movement. Fresh off the back of a sold-out debut headline show in London, a main stage performance at Paris’ Ideal Trouble Festival and the release of his self-directed visual EP CONVULSIONS with Hunger Magazine, Malthus is an emerging talent on London’s underground scene.
Malthus’ music sits at the intersection between alternative R&B and electronic dance music. He credits his working-class upbringing, rave culture and primitivism as strong reference points for his work – utilising twisted cinematography and disjointed movement direction to construct a surreal audio-visual world. His work questions expressions of lust and violence – flipping orchestral and electronic music into expressive, soulful performances that have garnered him international attention.
Malthus is the founder of Littledoom Studio and Littledoom Label run with Sid Quirk and Mercedes666 and co-produces London’s biannual LAZARUS parties. They have performed across the UK and Europe and premiered work via BBC6, KCRW, Fact Magazine, Dazed and Confused, Hunger, F-Word, Kaltblut, Fuuuucking Young, and GATA Magazine. Notable Collaborations include Rick Owens, Blackhaine, Rainy Miller, Charles Jeffrey, Matt Lambert, Tim Walker, Armani and Jimmy Choo.
+ Support from May Swoon
May Swoon is the solo noise making machine of multi-faceted artist Neo Ukandu. Skewing and experimenting with nostalgic pop music tropes of the 80s and 90s, they lay on a thick and playfully metallic glaze to their music that fills your eyes and ears with the scent of another world.
