About the artists
Laure Boer is a sound artist and multi-instrumentalist based in Berlin, inspired by noise music and traditional folk. Boer has worked with i.a. Rabih Beaini, Marie-Louise Andersson, Diane Barbé, DjJ Die Soon, Luise Volkmann and many others and has done several residencies such as Nusasonic in Manila/PH (CTM/Goethe Institut/Musicboard Berlin), and Sound Art Lab in Denmark, an institution in the former Bang&Olufsen laboratories. She has played at Berlin Atonal, WSK Festival/PH, the Dokumenta fifteen, at ARTE TV and toured Europe solo and in various duo and trio constellations. She is published by the labels Kashual Plastik, Chinabot, Otomatik Muziek, and has been featured on the compilation Below the Radar by The Wire magazine, BBC Radio and NPR.
Randox Trio bring pseudo-jazz and psychic-warfare from Cardiff-based goons Xavier Boucherat, Pam Rose Cott and Luke Robinson. What began as a belligerent and largely uninformed discussion about private healthcare has, regrettably, become a vehicle for the three to sink their teeth into further questions: what if a dog was an improvising musician? Do floor toms feel pain? Are the acoustics in that toilet really good, or am I just imagining things? Outings to date have featured rowdy rhythmic clatter, fractured rave-electronics, abyssal industro-ambience, sad-boy sax and ritual treatments of space and surroundings, all with the goal of superimposing one dumb reality onto another.
Xavier Boucherat is a Cardiff-based musician and writer, and a resident at SHIFT. Along with projects including Beauty Parlour, The Panama Papers and Randox Trio, he runs Sgarab Tapes–a tape and digital label for Dead Serious Gear – and writes a newsletter for weirdo music in Cardiff .
Pam Rose Cott is a multidisciplinary artist working with sound, improvised vocals, writing and textiles. Her solo sound work weaves together poetry, song, field recording, synth and an array of instruments. Subverting modern ideas around the purpose of meditative spaces, demonstrating how they can help us to collectively examine and process difficult realities and histories.
