Moved from their ancestral home in the 17th century to a piece of land in Oklahoma thought sufficiently unremarkable by the US government, in the early 1920s the discovery of oil deposits changed the fate of the Osage nation once again. In this brutal moment in American history, we see the story play out through the eyes of Osage woman Mollie and her white husband Ernest as members of the tribe are murdered in mysterious circumstances and the F.B.I. become involved. Martin Scorsese, one of the great chroniclers of American life, brings this epic story to life, all at once a Western and a Gangster drama, and showcases incredible performance in one of this year’s unmissable cinema events.
In 1920s America members of the Osage nation begin to disappear in this epic drama.
