Mana is the founder of a ground-breaking sex worker service for elderly people who advertise themselves in newspapers innocently seeking “Tea Friends” and the elderly “tea girls” are sent to the lonely men who wish for company. One day at the supermarket, Mana crosses paths with elderly shoplifter Matsuko and offers her a job. Matsuko rediscovers joy in being needed by others and becomes one of the most popular tea girls. However, just as business begins to bloom, the police become aware of their activities. Based on a true story, this is an award-winning, touching and frank taboo-busting tale of social norms.
