“Are you decent?” becomes the central question in this flirtatious tale of morality. Johnny Farrell is a small-time American gambler, newly arrived in Buenos Aires, Argentina. When he is caught cheating at a game of blackjack, he manages to talk his way into a job with the casino's owner, the powerful Ballin Mundson. The two form an uneasy partnership based off their mutual lack of scruples until Mundson introduces him to his beautiful new wife, Gilda, an old flame of Johnny’s. This twisty tale of corruption and lust with classic Hollywood sumptuous visuals was a star-making turn from Rita Hayworth, who ignites the screen.
