Van is a soldier fighting for his country against a large empire looking to incorporate their home into its kingdom. In battle he is taken as a slave til one night, a pack of strange dogs attack the camp and Van takes the opportunity to escape. He meets Yuna, a young girl, but they are both bitten by the dogs, who are carrying a mysterious illness. As the disease begins to run rampant in the land, they find themselves amongst a fight much larger than the warring of nations. The feature debut of directors who worked as animators on Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke and Your Name bring the same attention to detail to bring you this sweeping epic.
