To begin at the beginning. On January 25th, 1954, from the Third Programme’s radio studio in Broadcasting House, the BBC first broadcast a new “Play for Voices”, Under Milk Wood. Come and see a re-imagined production of a live broadcast from a radio studio. Watch the cast, unseen by the audience listening on their wirelesses, joyfully immerse themselves in the procession of colourful and unforgettable characters, living their lives one spring day and night in the tiny dingle that is Milk Wood.
In celebration of the centenary of the birth of Richard Burton in 1925, First Voice in the original BBC production, come and sail across the jollyrodgered sea aboard the S.S. Kidwelly to Llareggub. All you need to bring is your imagination to be transported by Dylan Thomas’ lyrical masterpiece to Cockle Row, Donkey Street, Goosegog Lane and into the bar of the Sailor’s Arms.
Perhaps Dylan Thomas’ greatest gift to Wales and the world, Under Milk Wood, presented by Everyman Theatre, July 7-12, 2025, in the Seligman Theatre.
