Filmed over seven years, this is the extraordinary journey of Rudrani Chettri and her friends in the transgender ‘Hijra’ community of Delhi. Whilst traditional Hindu society recognises the ancient Hijra identity as a legal ‘third sex’ (often seen as holy) this does not necessarily mean acceptance. Many of the Hijra are shunned by their families and forced to live and work on the streets. In search of acceptance Rudrani creates and launches a modelling agency and becomes Delhi’s highest profile Trans activist under the scrutiny of the media. A hopeful documentary, this is a story of love and loss and catwalk glory.
Bring along baby for our weekly film screenings of new releases.
With free entry for babies, a relaxed environment and no worries about causing a disturbance, Carry On Screaming films are for parents and guardians with babies under twelve months.
Please note: No baby, no entry!
