In ancient China, the theft of a legendary sword sets two master warriors in pursuit of a mysterious masked thief. Ang Lee's Oscar-winning classic intertwines incredible action scenes with epic love stories, and is widely considered to be one of the best films of the 21st century.

He was passionate about supporting creativity and inclusivity in Cardiff and Wales. Our goal for this funded programme is to encourage and support our next generation of filmmaking talent.

As a Malaysian beauty queen her femininity was never in doubt, which made her punchy debut onto the screen as an action superstar (starting in bit parts in Sammo Hung movies) all the more surprising and exciting. Here we showcase some of her most fun roles, as the HK detective up against VHS legend Cynthia Rothrock in Yes, Madam!,  the enigmatic Invisible Woman in Johnnie To’s The Heroic Trio and the exquisite Yu Shu Lien in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, which confirmed her international superstar status.
