Summer of Fun

For anyone unable to book online or by phone, we reserve a few tickets for every screening and release them on the day of the screening. This is done on a first-come-first-served basis, so your ticket is not guaranteed.

From 24 July to 1 September, Chapter is sharing a full programme of free art packs, films and packed lunches for children, keeping Cardiff creative over the summer.

In an effort to support local families during the summer break, Chapter is thrilled to announce an expansion of their school holiday programme: six weeks of free packed lunches for all children under 18, three free family films a week, and free art packs for all.

This programme will run from Monday to Friday, starting 24 July and finishing 1 September. This free offer has been extended to ensure that children have access to delicious lunches during the summer, and can enjoy art and films on their doorstep.

Hannah Firth, Co-Director and Artistic Director said, “During these difficult times, we think it’s vital to support our local community. We started this programme last year and are thrilled to be able to offer activities and lunches throughout the summer. As the cost-of living crisis deepens, we want to ensure that all children and young people can have access to free food, art and film in our venue so that they always feel safe and welcome.”

Alongside the free programme of activities, there are a number of paid-for events that have been programmed with little audiences in mind, making Chapter an ideal day out throughout the summer holidays.

Myfanwy MacLeod Art Packs

To foster creativity and keep little artists entertained, Chapter has taken inspiration from Canadian artist Myfanwy MacLeod’s exhibition: The Botanist, to share free art packs for all to enjoy. These feature quizzes, teasers, colouring in, drawing exercises and more, helping children to explore their artistic talents during the summer break.

Cinema Programme

In addition to the free family films, Chapter curates a unique range of  documentaries, arthouse and on-release blockbusters all year round. The already-iconic Barbie (U) movie will take the spotlight in a full run from 28 July to 10 August, as well as Christopher Nolan’s nuclear thriller, Oppenheimer (PG), starring Cillian Murphy from 21 July to 3 August. Keep your eyes peeled, as Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (PG) comes to screens at Chapter this August too.

Performance Programme

For little and big audiences alike, join Frogs in Bogs, the superhero frog plumbers that need to crack a clogging crime and defeat the evil Cwac Ty Bach in award-winning female-led theatre company, Familia de la Noche's new, hilarious, all-jumping, blockbusting show for all ages on 11 and 12 August.
