Chapter’s April Highlights
We’re bringing you two fantastic festivals to celebrate the start of spring!
Under the theme ‘Call to Spring’, our biennial four-day live-art festival Experimentica takes place 11 – 14 April and marks the turn of the seasons towards new life. We invite artists and communities to join us in celebrating this vibrant moment for experimental practice, showcasing an array of newly commisioned performances, retellings, workshops, gatherings and screenings.
We’re also looking forward to once again partner with Cardiff Animation Festival to present to a host of brilliant Q&As, animation workshops and screenings under the theme ‘treat’. Highlights include 96 short films from 23 countries, as well as animated feature films, some of the world’s leading animation artists sharing their expertise — and event an opportunity to amke your own film to be screened at the festival!
If you’re unable to catch the incredible Nye on stage, we’re screening the NT Live streamed performance in our cinema! Join Michael Sheen as Welsh legend Nye Bevan on the spectacular journey through his life as he transformed Britain’s welfare state and created the NHS.
Introduce your little ones to the theatre with the mesmerising puppetry and beautiful music of Theatre Lyngo’s, The Little Prince. Join the boy who fell to earth as he teaches his friend about love, life and real happiness in this adaptation of one of the best-selling children’s books.
Following their recently released debut album, Muriel return for another headline show! Embrace their warm emotive soundscapes and layered vocals accompanied by a special film by Cardiff-based photographer and filmmaker Jake Rowles.
In our gallery and lightbox, Adham Faramawy’s solo exhibition In The Simmering Air and the Flows of the Undercurrent explores the entanglement of land, rivers and migratory flows in their recent video works, paintings and sculptures. Free entry until 23 June.
We’re delighted to be working with Now in a Minute Media to host the first Iftar! An Iftar is a special celebration throughout Ramadan, and our event will be complete with a fantastic lineup of speakers, poets and artists. We invite you to listen, learn, and break fast with the local Muslim community. No matter what background, faith, or no faith, everyone is welcome to experience this special part of a Muslim’s day during Ramadan.
To ensure that everyone feels welcome at Chapter, for 2 April, 12-close, we will not be serving alcohol, nor permitting it to be brought into the venue and instead will serve an exciting range of juices and mocktails, perfect for all visitors.
